Saat tes pra musim di Jerez, Ben 'The Texas Terror' Spies berhasil finish keempat. Semoga ini sebuah pertanda bagus untuk memulai seri kedua MotoGP 2012.

Spies mengungkapkan "Saya merasa sangat baik, Walau saya belum memiliki hasil yang bagus di Jerez namun saya percaya dengan Yamaha YZR M1 bisa bekerja dengan baik di setiap sirkuit. Dan saya pasti bisa mendapatkan hasil yang positif."
Setelah mengalami kesulitan di Qatar kemarin (8 April 2012) Spies percaya dengan dirinya bahwa di seri kedua bisa diakhiri dengan hasil yang memuaskan.
